Post Description

Pay Scale   PB-3, Rs.15600-39100/- Grade Pay of Rs. 5400/- (Pre-revised) (Revised Rs.56100-177500, Level-10 as per Pay Matrix of 7th CPC)
Age   Not exceeding 35 years as on normal closing date. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/U.T. Government Servants upto Five years as per instructions/ orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time. Essential Qualification (s)   (i) Master’s Degree in Anthropology (with specialization in Cultural or Social Anthropology) or Sociology from a recognized University
and
(ii)Three years’ experience of Social Research on Village and Community Studies with special reference to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes.

Note I Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
Note II The qualification(s) regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes, if at any stage of selection the Union Public Service Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the posts reserved for them.
Desirable Qualification (s)   Doctorate degree in Anthropology (with specialization in Cultural or Social Anthropology) or Sociology from a recognized University.
Duty(ies)   1. To assist Sr. RO(SS) in planning and implementation of action plan of the activities of S.S. Division etc.
2. To finalise All India Town Directory.
3. To supervise collection/compilation of ethnographic information of castes and tribes (with reference to SC and ST) from various journals, books etc.
4. To examine new/unclassifiable Census returns on SCs, STs and religions reported in Census Schedules etc.
5. To supervise the compilation and supply of Census data on SCs and STs as per the requirements etc.
Probation   1 (one) year
Headquarters   Office of Registrar General of India, New Delhi but liable to serve anywhere in India
Other Details   This post is permanent and classified as General Central Service, Group ‘A’, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.
