| Age | AGE Not exceeding 30 (thirty) years for general category candidates as on normal closing date. Not exceeding 30 (thirty) years for EWS candidates, 35 (thirty five) years for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates and 33 (thirty three) years for Other Backward Classes candidates as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/U.T. Government Servant upto five years as per instructions/ orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time. | Essential Qualification (s) |
A. Educational Qualifications Master’s Degree in Physics or Geophysics or Geology or Mathematics from a recognized University or Institute or BE or AMIE in Electronics or Communication from a recognized University or Institute. Note 1 Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified. Note 2 The qualification regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes, if at any stage of selection the Union Public Service Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill-up the vacancy reserved for them. |

| Duty(ies) | Providing assistance to the Geophysicist in acquisition, processing and interpretation of geophysical data, preparation of scientific paper, execute field programme adopting different geophysical methods using sophisticated instruments in remote area, airborne and marine surveys for six months every year or any related work as assigned. |

| Any Other Conditions | Every appointee on his/ her 1st appointment in Geological Survey of India shall have to successfully complete the induction or orientation training conducted by Geological Survey of India Training Institute and execute a surety bond of Rs. 3 lakhs where he/she has to serve GSI for 3 yrs. continuously from the date of successful completion of the induction training. |
