Post Description

Pay Scale   Pay level 12 (Rs. 78,800- 2,09,200) in the pay matrix table as per 7th CPC.
Age   Not exceeding 50 years as on closing date. Not exceeding 55 years for Scheduled Caste candidates as on closing date in respect of the vacancy reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/U.T. Government servants upto five years as per instructions/orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time. Essential Qualification (s)   A. EDUCATIONAL
(i) Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university
(ii) Diploma or Certificate of foreign language course, other than English, for a minimum period of six months.
Note-I Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
B. EXPERIENCE
Ten years’ experience in the field of tourism or public relations or publicity or administrative work including five years’ experience in the field of tourism and hospitality in the Central Government or State Government or the Union Territory administration or Public Sector Undertakings or Universities or recognized research institutions or statutory or autonomous organizations or Government recognized educational institutions or registered corporate entities.
Note-II The Qualifications regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing in case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, if at any stage of selection the Union Public Service Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from this community possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the post reserved for them.
Desirable Qualification (s)   Master Degree or Master of Business Administration or Post Graduate Diploma in Management in Tourism or Tourism Management or Tourism and Travels or Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Management or Tourism and Travel Management or Tourism Studies or Tourism Administration.
Duty(ies)   Disposal and supervision of Government business relating to Ministry of Tourism in their respective jurisdiction. General administration of office (s) within their respective jurisdiction.Providing inputs for tourism related policy formulation. Promoting tourism in their respective jurisdiction with the objective to promote travel to and within India. Appraisal of the perspective plans as well as annual plans of the State Governments in respect of creation / strengthening of infrastructural facility of tourist destinations in the country and with respect to other aspects relating to tourism. Co-operation and coordination with domestic tourism, hospitality and travel & tourist organizations etc. Implementation, monitoring, coordinating and reporting on all schemes and programmes of the Ministry. Regular coordination & liaison with State governments/UT administrations and other stake holders within their jurisdiction for promotion and publicity and other matters relating to tourism. Implementation, monitoring and reporting on various activities related to skill development and other tourism related training in their jurisdiction. Any other work assigned by MoT (Hq) from time to time.

Other Details   General central service, Group A, Gazetted, Non-ministerial. The post is permanent.
