Post Description

Pay Scale   Level-11 of the Central Pay Scales plus such allowances as may be sanctioned by the Government from time to time plus NPA as per Rules .
Age   Not exceeding 50 years as on the normal closing date. Not exceeding 55 years for Scheduled Caste candidates as on normal closing date in respect of vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/ U.T. Government Servant upto Five years as per instructions/orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time. Essential Qualification (s)   A. EDUCATIONAL

(i) A basic University or equivalent qualification included in any one of the Schedules to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956 and must be registered in a State Medical Register or Indian Medical Register.

(ii) M.S.( Ophthalmology)/ M.D.( Ophthalmology) from a recognized University/ Institution or equivalent.


B. EXPERIENCE Three years’ teaching experience in the concerned Specialty after acquiring postgraduate qualification as Lecturer/ Registrar/ Senior Resident/ Demonstrator/ Tutor in a Recognized Medical College/ Teaching Institution.

NOTE- 1 The qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.

NOTE- 2 The qualification(s) regarding experience is/are relaxable at the discretion of the Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, if at any stage of selection, the Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from this community possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the vacancies reserved for them.
Desirable Qualification (s)  
Duty(ies)   The duties of the Senior Lecturer( Ophthalmology) will be to teach the undergraduate( MBBS) and Post-graduate students, training of interns, paramedical staff and research work.
Probation   One year for direct recruits.
Headquarters   Chandigarh.
Other Details   General Central Service Group ‘A’ Gazetted Non-Ministerial. The posts are temporary but likely to continue indefinitely.
Any Other Conditions   Candidates recruited to the post will be covered by the New Contributory Pension Scheme and the candidates selected are required to join immediately.
