Post Description
Pay Scale | Level- 10 (Rs.56100-177500/-) in the Pay Matrix as per CCS (R.P.) Rules, 2016. (Total emoluments excluding T.A. & HRA at the time of initial appointment will be Rs. 56,100/- plus DA as applicable per month approximately). |
Age | Not exceeding 35 years as on normal closing date. Not exceeding 38 years for Other Backward Class candidates and 40 years for Scheduled Caste Candidates as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central Government Servant upto five years in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by Central Government from time to time. Essential Qualification (s) |
A. Educational- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry OR Master’s Degree in Chemistry. B. EXPERIENCE- For Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry Holders- Three years experience in the use of analytical Instruments or Methods of Analysis of Organic or Inorganic materials from a recognized Scientific Institute or University OR For Master Degree in Chemistry Holders- One year experience in the use of analytical Instruments or Methods of Analysis of Organic or Inorganic materials from a recognized Scientific Institute or University. Note 1- Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the UPSC, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of the candidates otherwise well qualified. Note 2- The qualification(s) regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes if at any stage of selection the Union Public Service Commission, is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from the community possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the vacancies reserved for them. |
Desirable Qualification (s) | One year’s experience in application of chemistry in heritage conservation. |
Duty(ies) | Planning, Execution and Supervision of Scientific Conservation and Preservation work of all types of Cultural Heritage under protection with Archaeological Survey of India. To carry out Scientific Studies and Research in this area for the development of appropriate Conservation method using convention and modern analytical tools. |

Headquarters | Headquarters is in New Delhi and liable to serve anywhere in India |
Other Details | General Central Services, Group ‘A’, Gazetted, Non-ministerial. The post is permanent. |
Any Other Conditions | Candidates selected for the post will, during the period of probation, be required to undergo training as per requirements of the job prescribed by the Archaeological Survey of India. |
