Pay Scale | Level 10 of the pay matrix (Rs. 56100-177500) Total Emoluments- Rs. 56100 plus other allowance as applicable |
Age | Not exceeding 35 years as on normal closing date. Not exceeding 40 years for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Not exceeding 38 years for Other Backward Classes candidates as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/U.T. Government Servant upto Five years as per instructions/ orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time. Essential Qualification (s) |
A. Educational (i) Master’s degree in Archaeology or Master degree in Indian History (with Ancient Indian History or Medieval Indian History as a subject or paper) or Master degree in Anthropology (with stone-age Archaeology as a subject or paper) or Master degree in Geology (with Pleistocene Geology as a subject or paper) from a recognized University or Institute, and (ii) Post graduate or Advanced Diploma in Archaeology of a duration of at least one year from a recognized University or Institute. Or Field experience of at least three years in Archaeology. Note 1 – Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission for reasons to be recorded in writing, in case of candidates otherwise well qualified. Note 2 – The qualification regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission for reasons to be recorded in writing, in case of candidates belonging to scheduled Castes and scheduled Tribes, if at any stage of selection, the Union Public Service Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the posts reserved for them |
Desirable Qualification (s) | Doctorate degree in Archaeology or Indian History or Anthropology or Geology from a recognized University or Institute. |
Duty(ies) |
To assist the Superintending Archaeologist in the discharge of his official functions which includes the following – (i) Documentation of antiquities. (ii) Village to Village Survey of antiquarian remains. (iii) Drawing of inspection notes (iv) To exercise delegated financial and administrative powers. (v) To ensure steps against encroachment, vandalism and mutilation of monuments. (vi) Conducting exploration and excavation. (vii) To check measure various type of conservation work. |

The post is permanent, General Central Service, Group ‘A’ Gazetted, Non-Ministerial. This recruitment will be subject to outcome of OA No. 1114/2024 in the matter of Alka Singh &OrsVs.UOI pending before the Hon’ble CAT, Principal Bench, New Delhi. |
