Post Description

Pay Scale   As per 7th CPC, Level-10 (Rs.56100-177500/-) in the Pay Matrix. (Total Emoluments excluding T.A. and HRA at the time of initial appointment will be Rs.56100/- plus D.A. as applicable per month approximately).
Age   Not exceeding 35 years for General category candidates as on normal closing date. Not exceeding 40 years for Scheduled Tribe candidates as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central Government Servant upto five years as per instructions/orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time. Essential Qualificaiton (s)   A. Educational-
Master’s degree in Physics / Applied Physics / Radio Physics and Electronics / Geophysics / Applied Geophysics / Geology / Applied Geology from a recognized University or equivalent.

Equivalent word is defined as under-
Master’s Degree (at least two year degree course after graduation) in Physics / Applied Physics / Radio Physics and Electronics / Geophysics / Applied Geophysics / Geology / Marine Geophysics or Geology / Earth Science / petroleum exploration / Geophysical technology / Geo-exploration / Exploration Geophysics from a recognized University / Institution.
B. Experience-
3 years’ research and / or practical experience in the electronics aspects of Geophysical Instrumentation and repairs of such instruments.
OR
3 years’ experience in the actual conduct and interpretation of Geophysical Survey work, particularly with reference to ground water.

Note 1 A candidate holding a Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology should have had Physics as one of the subjects at the Bachelor of Science Degree examination of a recognized University or equivalent.

Note 2 Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the UPSC in the case of the candidates otherwise well qualified.

Note 3 The qualification(s) regarding experience is/are relaxable at the discretion of the UPSC in the case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes if, at any stage of selection, the UPSC is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from these communities are not likely to be fill up the vacancies reserved for them.
Desirable Qualificaiton (s)  
Duty(ies)   Planning and execution of Geophysical Surveys including special studies using suitable geophysical technique and equipment. Carry out Vertical electrical sounding, Magnetic / EM profiling and Borehole logging. Interpretation of the date, synthesis of results and preparation of reports. Maintenance and updating of Geophysical records. Proper transportation and maintenance of equipments.
Probation   Two years.
Head Quarter   Central Ground Water Board, Central Head Quarter, Faridabad (Haryana) -121001 with All India Service Liabilities.
Other Details   General Central Services, Group-‘A’ Gazetted (Non-Ministerial- Scientific and Technical). The posts are permanent.
