Post Description

Pay Scale   Level-7 in the Pay Matrix with initial basic pay of Rs.44,900/- (7thCPC). (Corresponding to Rs.9300-34800/- in PB-2 with Grade Pay of Rs.4600/- ) (Pre-Revised – 6th CPC) (Total emoluments Rs.48,500 DA approximately at the time of initial appointment)
Age   Not exceeding 30 years as on closing date. Not exceeding 35 years for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates as on closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Not exceeding 33 years for Other Backward Classes candidates as on closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Not exceeding 40 years for Persons with Disability candidates (45 Years for SC/ST candidates and 43 years for OBC candidates) as on closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/U.T. Government Servants upto five years as per instructions/orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time. Essential Qualification (s)   A. EDUCATIONAL:
i) Degree of a recognized University or Institute;
ii) Diploma/Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism/ Mass Communication from a recognized University/Institution; or Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from a recognized University/Institute;
iii) Candidates must have studied concerned Indian language upto 10th Class.

Note I: Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Commission for reasons to be recorded in writing, in case of candidate otherwise well qualified.

B. EXPERIENCE: Two years’ experience of journalistic, publicity or public relation work in a Government Department/Public Sector Undertaking/Autonomous Organisation/News agency/Newspaper registered with the Registrar of Newspapers of India/any other Listed Private Organization.

Note II: The qualification regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of the Commission in case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes if at any stage of selection, the Commission for reasons to be recorded in writing, is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the vacancies reserved for them.

N.B.: Direct recruitment to the posts in Senior Grade of IIS shall be made language-wise. There shall be no category-wise/community-wise reservation for any of following the languages:- Hindi-06 vacancies, English-06 vacancies, Telugu-01 vacancy, Marathi-02 vacancies, Bengali-02 vacancies, Tamil-02 vacancies, Kasmiri-01 vacancy.
Desirable Qualification (s)  
Duty(ies)   • The officers are required to prepare press notes, publicity materials, editorial material and analysis of Press Comments on current topics, compilation of news bulletins and reporting of news for broadcasting, monitoring of news bulletins by foreign broadcasting stations.
• Organising Exhibitions, writing scripts/captions, maintenance of Register on newspapers in India.
• Preparation of research/reference paper and background note in the fields of history, economics and current events for use of press, radio, writers etc.

Other Details   The posts are located in different Media Units/field units of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting all over the Country. These posts are permanent.
