Post Description

Pay Scale   Pay Level-10 in the Pay Matrix
Age   Not exceeding 35 years as on normal closing date. Not exceeding 40 years for Scheduled Tribes candidates as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/U.T. Government Servant upto Five years as per instructions/ orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time. Essential Qualification (s)   A. EDUCATIONAL
Master’s Degree in Physics from a recognized University/ Institute.
OR
Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering/ Mechanical engineering/ Metallurgy from a recognized University/ Institute.

B. EXPERIENCE 01 year practical experience in
non-destructive/metallographic techniques as employed in testing/ evaluation/ failure investigation of materials for candidates holding Master’s Degree in Physics.
OR
02 years practical experience in non-destructive/ metallographic techniques as employed in testing/ evaluation/ failure investigation of materials for candidates holding Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Metallurgy.

Note 1- Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission for reasons to be recorded in writing, in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
Note 2- The qualification(s) regarding experience is/are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission for reasons to be recorded in writing in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes, if any stage of selection, the Union Public Service Commission, is of the opinion that sufficient number of the candidates from this community possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the vacancies reserved for them.
Desirable Qualification (s)   (i) Site Incharge Certificate of Radiation from Bhaba Atomic Research Centre level or I/ II/ III certificate in one or more non-destructive testing methods from any recognized Society/ Institute.
(ii) Knowledge of Welding technology.
Duty(ies)   Scientist ‘B’ (Non-Destructive) is overall in-charge of Non-destructive discipline. He scrutinizes the test requests/forwarding letters, allocates the samples to the Scientific Officer and Scientific Assistant, supervises & sorts out the technical/administrative problems. Checks the draft test certificates and signs the final test certificates. Initiates all purchase cases & assists Scientist ‘C’ in all technical/purchase/administrative matters.
Probation   01 (one) year
Headquarters   Headquarters is in Kolkata. Candidate is liable to serve anywhere in India in Regional Offices of NTH.
Other Details   Classification of post- General Central Service, Group ‘A’, Gazetted, Non Ministerial. The post is permanent.
