Post Description

Pay Scale   As per 7th CPC- Level-7 (Rs. 44,900/-1,42,400/-) in the Pay Matrix (Total emoluments excluding T.A. & HRA at the time of initial appointment will be Rs. 44,900/- plus DA as applicable per month approximately.)
Age   Not exceeding 30 years for General, EWS and Scheduled Tribes category candidates as on normal closing date. Not exceeding 35 years for Scheduled Castes and not exceeding 33 years for Other Backward Class candidates as on normal closing date in case of vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central Government Servant upto Five years in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by Central Government from time to time. Essential Qualification (s)   A. EDUCATIONAL -

M.Sc. degree in Zoology from a recognized University.

B. EXPERIENCE -


Two years’ experience of survey and research work in Zoology

Note- Qualifications regarding experience is/are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission for reasons to be recorded in writing in case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, if at any stage of selection, the Union Public Service Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from this community possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the vacancies reserved for them.
Desirable Qualification (s)   Training/experience in the collection and preservation of zoological specimens in the field and in handling and maintaining large zoological collections in some museum or Zoological Research Institute.
Duty(ies)   (i) Research on taxonomy, morphology, ecology of animals under the charge of Assistant Zoologist.
(ii) Care, preservation, maintenance and identification of animals’ collections of the section to which Assistant Zoologist is attached under the supervision of the Scientist ‘B’.
(iii) Care and maintenance of zoological exhibits in the public galleries of a museum in charge of the Zoological Survey of India under the supervision of the Scientist ‘B’.
(iv) Faunistic survey.
(v) Cataloging, abstracting and documentation of zoological literature, preparation of bibliographic etc.
(vi) Any other work assigned by the Director, ZSI.

Other Details   General Central Service Group ‘B’, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial. The post is permanent.
