Post Description

Pay Scale   As per 7th CPC Level – 8 (Rs 47600-151100/-) in the Pay Matrix (Total emoluments excluding T.A. & H.R.A at the time of initial appointment will be Rs. 47,600/- plus DA as applicable per month approximately.)
Age   Not exceeding 30 years for as on normal closing date. Not exceeding 33 years for Other Backward Class candidates as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/U.T. Government Servant upto Five years in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by Central Government from time to time. Essential Qualification (s)   A. Educational-
Master’s Degree in any branch of Chemistry
Or
Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or Technology from a recognized University/ Institution.
Or
Degree or Diploma conferred by the Associate Institute of Chemist (India) in Chemistry.

Note 1- The candidates who were enrolled for Associate Institute of Chemist (India) upto 31.05.2013 are only eligible for consideration to the post of Assistant Chemist for Direct Recruitment and the candidates who have enrolled on or after 01.06.2013 for Associate Institute of Chemist (India) are not eligible for consideration to the post of Assistant Chemist (Direct Recruitment)

Note 2- Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
Desirable Qualification (s)  
Duty(ies)   Analytical work relating to rocks, minerals, ores, metals, alloys allied materials and assaying of precious metals.
Probation   2 years
Headquarters   Headquarters is at Kolkata with All India service liability
Other Details   General Central Service, Group ‘B’ Gazetted, Non- Ministerial. The post is permanent.
Any Other Conditions   Every appointee on his/her 1st appointment in Geological Survey of India shall have to successfully complete the induction or orientation training conducted by Geological Survey of India Training Institute, Hyderabad and execute a surety bond of Rs. 3 lakhs where he/she has to serve GSI for 3 yrs. Continuously from the date of successful completion of the induction training.
